Michael is EVP at USI Insurance Services, responsible for USI's employee benefits division with 40 retail employee benefit consulting and brokerage offices across the US and totaling over $350M in revenue. He has spent nearly 25 years in the healthcare industry. Prior to joining USI in 2008, he was the CEO of UnitedHealthcare's northeast region, so he brings tremendous experience and insight into the healthcare systems and payer practices at openDoctor.

Dr. Newborn is Vice President, Medical Services at Phelps Memorial Hospital and Northern Westchester Hospital, both part of the North Shore/LIJ Health System. In this role he is responsible for new clinical program development, physician recruitment and supervision, medical group relationships, and clinical process redesign. Previously he served as Chief Medical Officer for the Western Connecticut Medical Group, where he built a de-novo ambulatory quality management program, a reinvented referrals management process and a top tier patient satisfaction program. Dr. Newborn has broad clinical experience in Primary Care, Hospital & Observation Medicine, and Urgent Care & Emergency Medicine and he still sees patients part time. In addition to openDoctor, Dr. Newborn serves on the Board of Neighbors Link Northern Westchester, a regional non-profit focused on the healthy integration of immigrants into the community. He is a graduate of Union College and Albany Medical College; he completed his Internal Medicine residency at St. Luke's/Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City.
